As families, educators, homeschoolers, churches, and libraries look for meaningful books that promote positive values, children’s author Lisa M. Pritchard announces the upcoming release of Tiny Tot Tiger Says Happy Birthday, America!, the second title in The Dirt Dog and Friends Series.
Written for children ages 4 to 8, the beautifully illustrated picture book introduces young readers to patriotism, gratitude, civic pride, and respect for the men and women who serve in the United States military. The book officially releases on June 2, 2026, with preorders available now through major retailers.
With the Fourth of July approaching, Tiny Tot Tiger has many questions. During a stop at Delicious Dairy Sweet Treats with his friends Dirt Dog, Furry Feline Frannie, Prissy Poodle, and Snicker Schnauzer, the conversation turns to the upcoming parade. Curious and eager to understand, Tiny Tot Tiger asks questions such as, “What’s the Navy?” “What do the stars on the flag mean?” and “What is a patriotic spirit?”
As the friends enjoy their ice cream, they discover that each of their fathers served in different branches of the military, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. On parade day, the children cheer for floats honoring liberty, the Declaration of Independence, and the brave men and women who protect America’s freedoms. By the evening fireworks display, even the youngest heart begins to understand what it means to be an American.
Tiny Tot Tiger Says Happy Birthday, America! commemorates America’s birthday with vibrant illustrations by Lissette Blanco, a discussion guide, and the full text of the Pledge of Allegiance. Designed to spark thoughtful conversations in homes, classrooms, churches, homeschool groups, daycare centers, and libraries, the book encourages children to reflect on gratitude, unity, service, and love of country.
“Only 31% of American third graders read at a proficient level, so it is important to provide children with stories that make reading enjoyable and meaningful,” said Pritchard. “Research shows that children raised in reading-focused environments are more likely to succeed academically and socially. Because of that, I am creating literacy workbooks and audiobooks for the series to support learning and encourage a lifelong love of reading.”
Each title in The Dirt Dog and Friends Series includes end-of-story lessons that reinforce age-appropriate life principles. Depending on the title, supplemental content may include Scripture, civic elements, and community-focused themes.
Pritchard’s first book in the series, Dirt Dog Invites Prissy Poodle to the Prom, introduced readers to the heartwarming world of Dirt Dog and Friends. The third title, Cool Cat Moo Moves to a New School, is scheduled for release in spring 2027. Pritchard is also developing literacy workbooks and audiobooks for the series, expected to launch in Fall 2026.
Readers can meet Lisa M. Pritchard at Barnes & Noble in Myrtle Beach on July 11. She is available for interviews, school visits, church events, book readings, and community appearances.
