On Thursday, May 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., PGT team members and the Kleinschmidts volunteered their time and expertise to help construct a home for a local Pinellas County woman who helps residents access health care. The build is part of a neighborhood transformation initiative in which Habitat for Humanity Tampa Bay Gulfside teams are building multiple homes simultaneously.
“This partnership with PGT Windows and Doors shows what’s possible when companies step up and invest in the communities they serve,” said Mike Sutton, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Tampa Bay Gulfside. “From donating high-quality materials to rolling up their sleeves on site, their commitment — alongside the support of Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt — helps us build more than just homes. Together, we’re creating safety, stability, and a brighter future for local families.”
For the new build, PGT Windows and Doors donated 15 impact-resistant windows and doors to outfit the home, including:
- Two Estate by PGT Entry Doors (FD450) in White, with Low-E glass
- Two WinGuard Aluminum French Doors (FD160) in White, with insulating, argon gas-filled, Low-E glass
- 11 WinGuard Vinyl Single Hung Windows (SH5500) in White, with insulating, Low-E glass
Since 2024, PGT Windows and Doors and the Kleinschmidts have worked on various projects through an ambassador partnership that also includes industry trade shows, conferences, social media collaboration, and more.
“It is always a pleasure to work with Brian and Mika, and we were honored to donate windows and doors for this special Habitat for Humanity build,” said Debbie Bondonzi, PGT Brand Manager. “As a brand with deep roots in Florida, we understand the unique demands homeowners here face, like storm protection, noise reduction, UV exposure, and security. We’re thrilled we were able to not only provide product, but also take part in the installation process, helping to create a home built for comfort and safety.”

About Habitat for Humanity Tampa By Gulfside
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity has served over 1,000 homeowner partners since 1985. The affiliate serves Pinellas, West Pasco, and Hernando Counties. Volunteers and future homeowners construct the homes, which are sold and financed with a zero-interest loan. Habitat homeowner candidates earn 30 to 80 percent of the area median income. Candidates must demonstrate the need for adequate shelter; the ability to pay back a zero-interest loan and the willingness to partner with Habitat to complete a robust homebuyer education curriculum and invest 350 to 450 “sweat equity” hours. Mortgage monies are used to build even more homes, making each donation to Habitat a perpetual legacy to the community. Habitat believes that homeownership contributes to family stability, leading, in turn, to community stability. For more information, call (727) 536-4755 or visit www.habitattbg.org.
