SES AI Completes Ramp of Korea Drone Battery Plant to One Million NDAA-Compliant Cells Per Year, and Plans to Further Expand to Three Million NDAA-Compliant Cells Per Year by Second Quarter 2027

SES AI Corporation (“SES AI,” the “Company,” “we” or “us”) (NYSE: SES), a global leader in the development and manufacturing of AI-enhanced high-performance Li-Metal and Li-ion batteries, today announced that it has completed the ramp up of its drone battery plant in Chungju, Korea, to an annual production capacity of one million NDAA-compliant cells. Driven by stronger than expected customer demand, the Company plans to immediately begin expanding the plant further, to three million NDAA-compliant cells per year by the second quarter of 2027.

SES AI owns and operates the Chungju facility, which has produced NDAA-compliant cells since 2021. The total capacity will primarily cover high-silicon Li-ion cells and anode-free Li-Metal cells, with cell sizes ranging from 6Ah to 30Ah.

Qichao Hu, Founder and CEO of SES AI, commented, “Completing the ramp-up of our Chungju plant to an annual capacity of one million NDAA-compliant cells is a key milestone for our drone business. Customer demand has been stronger than we expected, and several leading drone OEMs and pack makers are conducting ongoing quality audits of our cells. This strong demand is the sole reason we are moving immediately to expand Chungju’s annual capacity to three million cells, with completion targeted for the second quarter of 2027.”

“Scaling our drone battery business is our top priority. With our own manufacturing capacity, drone OEMs and pack makers can audit and qualify our cells directly at the source as they establish NDAA-compliant supply chains. We look forward to sharing updates on customer progress in the months ahead,” Hu added.
