Joyce Batcheller’s ‘Beyond the Blueprint’ Reaches Best Seller on Amazon for Aspiring and Experienced Nurse Executives

AUSTIN, TX, UNITED STATES, October 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Beyond the Blueprint: How to Become, Lead, and Thrive as a Chief Nursing Officer, a new book by Joyce Batcheller, has reached best seller status on Amazon.com following its global launch. Published by Game Changer Publishing, the book offers a structured look at the path to executive nursing leadership, drawing on the author’s more than nineteen years as a system-level Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

The book is organized around a central comparison. Every hospital operates from a blueprint for patient care, and the CNO is the executive who designs it, builds it, and keeps it standing under pressure. Using candid stories, practical tools, and lessons from the author’s own career, the book follows nurse executives through the major stages of the role.

A Five-Part Structure

The content is divided into five parts that mirror the progression of an executive nursing career:

The Path to Becoming a CNO, which addresses the skills and presence the role requires

Landing the Role, which covers the process of pursuing and securing an executive position

The First Ninety Days, which focuses on leading through a critical onboarding period

Leading Nursing at the Executive Level, which examines strategy, culture, and team development

The Influence of a CNO, which considers the broader impact and legacy of nursing leadership

The book is written for both emerging and established nurse leaders and is intended as a working roadmap for those preparing to step into, or already serving in, senior nursing roles.

Healthcare organizations continue to face questions about executive succession, leadership readiness, and the retention of nurse leaders. CNO turnover has been a subject of study in nursing literature, and Batcheller has contributed to that research. Beyond the Blueprint applies her experience and academic work to the practical realities of the position, including the early months in a new executive role, when expectations are high and relationships are still forming.

Batcheller currently serves as the CEO/Co-Founder of The Nurses Legacy Institute (TNLI). TNLI has over 11 years of experience in providing the Chief Nursing Officer Institute (CNOI) which has been designed for new and aspiring to be CNOs. Additionally, TNLI is launching The Luminary: A CNO Legacy Experience in November 2026 for experienced CNOs. Her work has centered on CNO onboarding, and she has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on the subject. TNLI also offers education modules for onboarding a new CNO along with coaching from an experienced CNO. Batcheller is also an adjunct professor at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing, and she hosted a radio program All About Nursing. She was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow.

She has recently been selected as one of Texas Nursing Leaders and legends by the Texas Nurses Association and a 2025 Nurse Advisor of the year by The International Association of Top Professionals (IATOP) and the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award by IATOP.

Joyce Batcheller, served for more than nineteen years as CNO of the largest healthcare system in Central Texas, overseeing more than 3,700 nurses across 90 clinical locations, including 11 hospitals. During her tenure, four of those hospitals earned Magnet designation and five earned Pathway to Excellence designation. She holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

The bestseller milestone, achieved shortly after the book’s worldwide release, signifies an early success for this newly published title. Beyond the Blueprint is now available on Amazon.
